Horizon for sustainable agriculture
Agro-ecology aims to reconcile, over time, the productivity of agricultural systems and the preservation of natural resources (soil, water and biodiversity). It takes into account economic, social and environmental components (systemic approach) to combine practices allowing a balance between people, agricultural activities and the environment. It is this agro-ecology that guides the actions of Crown Corporation with agricultural operators or investors in the Democratic Republic of Congo in general and in Greater Katanga in particular.
Agro-ecological practices
Since its creation in 2021, has been committed to promoting agro-ecological practices that meet the constraints of farms, in connection with the environment in which they carry out their activities. To the extent that, Crown Corporation has diversified its way of satisfying its customers in its field of expertise by meeting expectations such as: sale of agricultural inputs (seeds, phytosanitary products); agricultural machinery, machinery and equipment; design, management and monitoring of agricultural projects; educational prospecting; agricultural hydraulic works; processing equipment; surveillance and control in aerial image using drones of agricultural concessions (by offering mosaic maps, digital terrain model); etc all within an ultra-professional deadline defying all competition.
The relationship between a farm and its environment
Crown Corporation aims to maintain the relationships that bind it with its loyal customers while respecting the principles of agricultural activities:
- have positive effects, when the practices implemented preserve or improve the environment,
what ensures their sustainability or development (e.g. maintenance of soil fertility) - have negative effects, when the practices disturb the environment, thus jeopardizing their sustainability
(e.g. overuse of water resources)
Crown Corporation in his section “Agro-ecology” aims for a balance of the environment for the development of agricultural activities. It combines practices that minimize the negative effects and maximize the positive effects (of the environment on the farm and of a farm on its environment)
Improvement and maintenance of soil fertility, preservation of water and agro-biodiversity Protection against agricultural pollution Reduction of pressure on agro-systems
Improved business margins and potential for better product valuation in markets
Food and nutritional security Valorization of local resources
An effective response to reconcile productivity,
socio-economic development and preservation of agro-systems
Crown Corporation in its Agro-ecology section applies to all types of farms, from the smallest family farms to the largest agro-industrial farms. It also applies to various activities: market gardening, rice growing, fruit growing, animal husbandry, food and cash crops, etc. Agro-ecology must be implemented on the scale of an entire productive space: land, watershed, lowland, production perimeter… A farm practicing agro-ecology will have a greater impact on the preservation of its agro-system if its neighbors adopt the same practices.
